Low Cost Dental Service At UNC Dentistry School

The University of North Carolina Dentistry School has 400-450 dental students. It is the state's first dental school and has been producing dentists for the last fifty years. The mission of UNC Dentistry School is to provide quality dental care to the residents of North Carolina and surrounding areas.

With high unemployment rates and an aging population, UNC dental college clinics provide a much needed service at a fraction of the cost. Medicaid is accepted and uninsured patients receive care at a reduced rate. UNC even sponsors free clinics throughout the area.

They stress excellence in teaching, patient care and research and have outreach programs in poor countries around the world as well as here in the U.S.

Services offered include exams, cleanings, x-rays, and fillings as well as cosmetic dentistry. Dental students provide these services closely supervised by the faculty. You need to allow about three hours for a normal appointment as students work a bit more slowly.

UNC also has specialty clinics for orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, endodontics, periodontics, prosthetodontics, and maxillofacial surgery.

Their service to seniors, children and the most needy patients is outstanding. Student clinics are extremely busy and more people want an appointment than there are students to care for them.

Patients who want an appointment must fill out an online application and then there is a drawing. There are always appointments for children, people who are in desperate need of a cleaning, denture patients, and orthodontic patients. These patients are exempt from the drawing process.

Many patients report that they are very grateful for the services provided by UNC and happy with the results. You can get the most for your money and a great smile.
